TRYING TO MAKE SENSE explores the human impulse to impose order on a world that often feels fragmented and chaotic. Each work begins with an original photograph and evolves through the careful layering of found objects and precisely cut fragments from magazines, postcards, and other printed materials. These elements are assembled within shadow boxes constructed with multiple layers of glass, creating compact, immersive worlds that feel simultaneously deliberate and disjointed.

Formally, the works operate as sculptural collages. The layered glass introduces depth, reflection, and interruption, asking viewers to navigate the images physically as well as conceptually. While the compositions are meticulously organized, their content resists easy resolution. Seemingly mismatched images are brought together in an effort to reconcile personal memory, popular imagery, and the visual noise of contemporary life.
